Free practice · about five minutes
The Evening Threshold.
A short written reflection for the moment between the day you had and the night ahead. Do it on paper, in a notes app, or simply in your head. No sign-up, nothing to buy.
About 30 seconds
Arrive
Sit somewhere you won’t be interrupted for a few minutes. Take three slow breaths. Notice what is under you — the chair, the bed, the floor — and let it hold a little more of your weight.
About 1 minute
Name today’s weather
If today were weather, what would it be? Stormy, foggy, bright, still, humid? Choose one word. You don’t need to explain it or fix it. Naming is enough.
About 1 minute
Notice what you carried
Was there something you held today that wasn’t really yours — someone else’s mood, an old expectation, a worry about tomorrow? Write it down in a few words.
About 1 minute
Remember one small, good thing
Not a big win. Something small: a warm cup, a kind message, the light at a certain hour. Let yourself remember it in detail for a moment.
About 1 minute
Set it down
Finish one sentence: “Tonight I am setting down…” Then close the notebook, or put the phone face down. The day is allowed to be over.
For other evenings
Twelve prompts for quieter nights.
Use one instead of step three or four when you want a change. There are no right answers.
- Where did I feel most like myself today?
- What am I still holding on to from this week?
- What did my body try to tell me today?
- Who or what made today a little lighter?
- What would I like to say no to, gently?
- Which worry can wait until morning?
- What did I do today that I’m quietly proud of?
- What am I ready to forgive myself for?
- What did I notice for the first time?
- What do I need more of this week?
- Which feeling visited most often today?
- If tomorrow were kind to me, what would it look like?
A gentle note
